The Best Attractions of Menorca There are some very fantastic attractions that you will be able to see and do when you stay in this lovely resort, of course, one of the best being the beautiful beaches. There are many stretches of golden sand where you will be able to relax on the warm soft sand and enjoy a superb day out on the beach. Ciutadella The island of Menorca is home to a number of fantastic beaches, many of which are white sand and turquoise blue. Ciutadella is one of the best because it has a beautiful old town background, which is also worth exploring. This is a very touristy area because of the many shops, cafes and restaurants, however if you are keen to escape the crowds, head inland to find some of the best fishing spots. Mahon The island of Mahon is fantastic if you are interested in relaxing or having a change of scenery from the beach-based attractions of the island. It has great stretches of white sand beaches and one of the best is La Vallada, which is located just off the town’s main promenade. With some excellent fish restaurants and excellent snorkelling, diving and sailing facilities, this area is a great place to visit. D Veilig de Nocice This area has to be one of the best because it has seven wonders of the nature; Mac adop, the highest point on the island, Veilig de No chats, a staggering 210 metres high, the Pas de l’Ours that acts as a natural archway, and the lovely caves at Cala Morells with the vast amount of stalactites, stalagmites and rods in it. In total the area has around 600 caves, 30 of which have been excavated. Saint Salines Castle Perhaps one of the most popular towns on the island, being a former Royal residence and home to the Acadians, St Salines Castle is located inland, though you may get a peak of it from the villas you are staying in. It has Legacy Square on the top of the hill, where the Kings of the 18th century shoot fireworks at New Year and celebrate the start of their new regime. Also at the top of the plinth is a monument to expose the people of the island to the burning fires of the 18th century. The ruins of the castle have been identified as the best preserved in all of Spain, and you can climb up the hill there and look down on the city below. Torralba d’en Salord This is a beautiful area of natural beauty and is close to the Menorca villas that you are staying in or around. You can take a boat trip out to the island of La Mata from Torralba if you wish, though it is not one of the most accessible beaches on the island. It is important to remember though that if you are not there in summer then you may not get the best conditions. Horia d’en Trango This natural lagoon is one of the best places to get a nature walk.
